La Leche League is an international, nonprofit, nonsectarian organization dedicated to providing education, information, support, and encouragement to women who choose to breastfeed. In Ohio alone, accredited volunteer Leaders assist more than 3,000 mothers each month through Group meetings and one-to-one telephone assistance.
Membership in La Leche League International is $40 for one year. Membership fees help to support your local Group and the international organization. The benefits of membership include a one-year subscription to NEW BEGINNINGS magazine.
Breastfeeding is natural, but that doesn't mean women can do it by instinct alone. Like childbirth, breastfeeding is easier with help. Problems of lactation can usually be avoided with preparation and information. All breastfeeding mothers and all mothers-to-be are welcome to come to our free meetings (nursing children are welcome too!) or to call for further information. La Leche League of Akron/Canton, Ohio
La Leche League Leaders are experienced mothers who are accredited by La Leche League International to help mothers and mothers-to-be with all aspects of breastfeeding. La Leche League Leaders are available for phone calls regarding questions and meeting information. Leaders can also give information about the nearest LLL Group meeting to your home and meeting topics that will be covered.
Each Group holds informal monthly meetings/discussions on breastfeeding geared to the mothers in attendance. Groups may also hold periodic Toddler, Enrichment, and Couples Meetings. Each Group maintains a lending library on breastfeeding and related topics. Groups also have books for sale, including The Womanly Art of Breastfeeding. In addition, they have information on and access to breastfeeding aids and products. All breastfeeding mothers and mothers-to-be interested in breastfeeding are welcome to come to our meetings or call one of our Leaders for breastfeeding help or information. Babies are always welcome at our meetings.

Whether or not the location is given, it is a good idea to contact the Leader shortly before the meeting date to confirm the meeting time and place and obtain directions. Meetings take place on the second Thursday of every month at 6:45 p.m. at the Village at St. Edwards Independent Living Complex (on Smith Road next to McDowell Library).
Canton
Canton AM: Meetings at 9:45 am, usually on the first Friday of each month.

Canton PM: Meetings at 7:00 pm, usually on the third Thursday of each month.
Location: The New Beginning Church of the Nazarene, 5640 Portage St. NW, North Canton, OH. Directions : From I-77 North, take Exit 111 (Portage St. / North Canton / Canal Fulton). Turn left onto Portage St NW (toward The Strip) and drive west for 1.1 miles. Shortly after crossing Frank Ave., The New Beginning Church of the Nazarene will be on your left.
